Open Question: Can a MacBook be connected to more than 1 wireless network simultaneously?

Reason I ask is because I want to get my internet access from one wireless network and stream the audio to a stereo with an Airport Express. Now that I think about it, can I just introduce the AirPort Express to an existing wireless network and connect to it with my MacBook instead of the host network? I work in a very loud mill and the speakers on my MacBook aren't nearly powerful enough to be useful so I want to use my stereo for the audio instead. I'll use AirFoil to stream all the audio-not just iTunes... I've never "added" a second wireless router to an existing wireless network and I'm not really sure what's all involved-maybe it's very easy, I don't know. I guess the AirPort Express would almost act as a "repeater". Any networking gurus please advise. Thanx! I just add it to the network. I figured it wouldn't be hard. Open Question: How do I get a realistic glissando in sibelius?

I am currently running Sibelius 5 with Kontact, sibelius sound essentials audio library. However when i add a glissando it sounds like a portamento during play back. As I use the sibelius playback and sound essentials as a method of submission for assessment it is crucial that the playback sounds like the way its written. NB: Glissando means a consecutive stream of semitones, ie. running your finger along the keys on a piano. Portamento means a continuous pitch change ie. strumming a string on a guitar then running your finger continuously along that string on the fretboard. Any help will be much appreciated. Resolved Question: To play Blu Ray on Media Centre PC, does the motherboard have to be HDCP compliant as well as the video card?

I'm upgrading an old SFF GX280 2.8Ghz Dell PC. It's a modest machine, but I want to add a low profile HDCP compliant graphics card. I am seriously considering the 3450, more specifically, the HIS-HD3450-D2LP which offers: PCI-E 256MB 64-bit DDR2, Dual Link DVI, TV Out, HDTV, HDMI, Superscalar unified shader architecture, 40 stream processing units, 64-bit memory interface , DirectX® 10.1 / Shader Model 4.1 support, PCI Express® 2.0 support, ATI CrossFireX multi-GPU support for highly scalable performance, High-speed 128-bit HDR (High Dynamic Range) rendering, Up to 24x Custom Filter Anti-Aliasing, ATI Avivo HD video and display technology, Built-in HDMI and 5.1 surround audio, Support for the ATI Radeon DVI to HDMI adapter, Unified Video Decoder (UVD) for Blu-ray and HD DVD, ATI PowerPlay energy conserving technology (Include 2 Single Slot Low Profile Bracket). The go-price is around $50. The power requirements for this model are listed as higher than what my Dell SFF is rated at (only about 130w, but a lot of forum discussions seem to hint that the Dell machines are often underrated). Also, according to a PC Authority review this model graphics card has 'ATi PowerPlay' which apparently keeps power consumption to a minimum by shutting down portions of the card that aren't being used, so I'm willing to take that risk (unless someone out there has tried what I'm about to and has failed - by all means, let me know). BUT, my core question is regarding Blu Ray playback. Even if I get this bargain graphics card, is my old Dell SFF motherboard going to let the team down? Read the rest of this entry »

Resolved Question: Regarding Firefox extensions or add-ons…?

I have seen someone hover their mouse over a streaming audio file and using something unknown, the file is downloaded. Does anybody know what this is called..I've browsed the FAQs of many Firefox add-ons, etc and I am still not sure. sorry..what I mean is..they hovered the mouse over the song file, which is one of several songs listed on a flash player, and clicked it, and using some sort of function they were able to download it. it was an mp3, I am pretty sure. Resolved Question: Questions About Xbox 360 (Arcade Version)?

I'm getting a new Xbox 360 Arcade with a seperate (Microsoft Xbox 360) 20GB hard drive to connect to it. I also will be hooking it up to my home Local Area Network (LAN) internet connection. With all of these things will I be able to: watch store-purchased DVD movies (without buying anything else other than what I listed above), play on xbox live with friends, stream media from my Windows XP SP3 computer (with WinAmp Remote and Windows Media Player 11, download games from the Xbox marketplace, rip Audio CDs to the hard drive, plug USB devices and memory storage (i.e. USB flash drive) to view/play compatible files, update dashboard/firmware to the NXE (New Xbox Experience), buy the separate HD-DVD player add-on and use it, and do pretty much everything else the other versions of Xbox can do? Please don't recommend buying the Elite or Pro or any other systems. I am buying the new Arcade and I'm not interested in changing my mind. Read the rest of this entry »
