Streaming Audio For Your Website And Blogs

I'm looking at a budget of between $500 - $1000. I do have an existing home audio system, but am thinking of purchasing AudioEngine a5 bookshelf speakers (self amped) and either a Squeezebox by Logitech or an Apple AirPort Express. What do others have set up or suggest? Should I buy another PC/server just to store my music and add that to the wireless network? Also is it worth converting my mp3's to a higher quality format? My goal is to be able to play music anywhere in my house using a laptop or remote. thanks.
